Pupils at Eastlands receive swimming lessons for blocks of nine weeks each year. These lessons take place at Worksop Leisure Centre.
The National Curriculum expects all pupils to be taught to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres. They are expected to perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations and to use a range of strokes effectively.
In 2017-18, 83% of Year 6 pupils were assessed as being able to swim 25 metres or more.
In 2018-19 87.5% of Year 6 pupils were assessed as being able to swim 25 metres or more, swim a variety of strokes and perform safe self-rescue.
